The Los Angeles Lakers defending their title to become repeat Champions of the National Basketball Association last night. Kobe Bryant has evolved to another level of skill sets. As his teammates lifted his inability to calm his assault on the record books and score at ease, Kobe Bryant grew.  I truly believe most basketball fans did not notice that Kobe Bryant relaxed on the court and focused on doing the little things as they have been called, rebounding and playing straight up defense.

He finally relaxed! No effort could will the ball in anymore he had to trust on a level he has never trusted before. And the team showed up.

Until the fourth quarter of the Final Game seven Kobe Bryant and the Lakers played zone defense locking up zones and letting players ( ie Rondo) attack the basket and get second chance rebounds. There was no box out on Rondo.

Kobe Bryant’s defense in Game 5 and 6 was no where to be found.  Now I am not saying he didn’t defend Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo in spurts, but this is a All Defensive Team regular. Kobe Bryant ‘s defensive skills rival those of Michael Cooper and Bobby Jones of Championship teams of the past on some levels.
