Muhammad Ali dubbed the “Athlete of the Century.” His heavyweight fights and beautiful style have been a constant inspiration for me. His phrases were masterpieces in self marketing, everyone knows float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. The showmanship and his ability to rope- a – dope with the best of them makes him the greatest of all time.

My father Frank Hummons Shackelford Jr. introduced me to Cassius Clay, since both are from Kentucky (KY). Cassius Clay didn’t changed his name until 1964 after joining the Nation of Islam. Cassius Clay is a cold blooded name. It was always a joy to see my father’s eyes light up and chest stick out when Cassius’s brilliance flashed across the television screen. The creative banter between Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) and Howard “tell it like it is” Cosell created a cadence of insight before the fights, after the fights and in the trenches that will never be recreated in sports broadcasting. Cosell was also an outspoken supporter of Olympic sprinters John Carlos and Tommie Smith after they raised their fists in a “black power” salute during their 1968 medal ceremony. In a time when many sports broadcasters avoided touching social, racial, or other controversial issues, and kept a certain level of collegiality towards the sports figures they commented on, Cosell did not.

As a long time Jet fan, oh how I wish that Howard Cosell could have been calling the recent game between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets with “Dandy” Don Meredith and Frank Grifford. Phil Sims and Jim Nance need to take a look at the style of Howard Cosell and rethink their sport broadcasting etiquette.

The commentary is supposed to be about the game and what is happening on the field, not your disbelief that Tom Brady and squad were losing the game and how you had to think positively that they could get back to what they had been doing all year. I still cannot believe the blatant bias of a team on the air. Can we say, tell it like it is, not how you want it to be.

“The fight is won or lost far away from the witnesses – behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under the lights.” Muhammad Ali

Agent FWD?

After a brief time away,

We have returned for a review:

Brett Favre has returned for one more season, The last Stryker unit has left Iraq before August 31, and one of the best free agents of all time is now in Miami. Oh yes and the Jets will be a powerhouse with LaDainian.

Did I hear that Shaquille O’Neal is a Boston Celtic? We have heard in the news for many months now  how LeBron James has left the threshold of  Magic, Bird & Jordan, Barkley, Dumar  and Isiah, Dennis Johnson, Dr. J and John Stockton days.  The players that played in the league before the free agency rules were changed, before the players association took a stand against the policies of the league and before the reason one played the game was not media drenched in propaganda. In the 80’s and 90’s the media couldn’t enter the locker room banter with blogs and influence that was tweeted,  typed or faced.  The team was the machine.

Fast forward to today a young man (LeBron James) is subjected to character assassination for using his mind and influence for good and still he should have reached back and talked to the management before a media mindstorm was implemented to that rocked the industry.

The corporate offices of the NBA and the team owners didn’t asked the players  how their TV contracts, extended seasons and corporate deals would trickle down to the players that bound the circuit and give up their family lives to build the billion dollar industry. They were just to play.

Enter LeBron James. He has been marked for greatness for many years through his high school years then with his jump to the NBA. His greatness is not just on the court his opportunity to move his skills and family to Miami has been marked as a traitor to a city not just a team.
Sometimes however, erectile dysfunction can occur at a later time for a patient, the usual situation is delayed scheduling of the check-up. online viagra australia lowest price levitra Herbal products have become very popular in recent years. It’s tough to have sex without an erection isn’t it? Sexual frustration is http://respitecaresa.org/kendra-give-back-to-rcsa/ cheap viagra prices an important reasons for many a failed relationship. respitecaresa.org buy viagra for cheap If the user feels that the side effects are becoming uncontrollable then he should immediately visit a hospital for medical aid.
He has never said he wanted to be like Mike, he even started a campaign to retire the jersey Number 23 league wide in honor of Mike, he never said he was the King of all King’s James and  all the extra added pressure  that comes with of carrying a team to their destiny.  If you look into his short basketball  history, a passer and a finisher. He doesn’t have to evolve into a team player, he is a team player.

He was given the title King James for marketing him as the next Michael Jordan for the league and OH BOY! what money they have made. If he wants to create his own marketing company and compete with the dollars that be why shouldn’t he. If he wants to create a one hour special and market his partners to the world and then give the revenue to a non profit organization focused on supporting the youth of Cleveland and other cities,   why shouldn’t he.

Where are the naysayers against  Shaquille O’Neal? There isn’t that much frenzy around his decision to make one more run at a championship ring on a rival team.

Back in the day a Los Angeles Laker player would not go to a rival team  because it was more important for the player to focus all their energy on becoming the best player they could be.  Now it is the machine against the body of human beings. More games, more money. These players don’t want to play ten years. They want it now, and they can build it, if they use their minds.

The ability to be single minded and focus on your craft has evolved into being the best on and off the court and to seduce all of the companies that build empires around you kept in the black.  The amount of pounding subjected to these athletes is unbelievable. If in the heat of battle you are behind the thrust of the microphone and your emotions are blasted across media outlets that in seconds can devour your integrity and sway the masses, what would you do to protect your mind, body, soul and family.
